Sulcata Tortoises

sulcata-tortoise1Sulcata tortoises live on the African Savannah.  They  don’t hibernate in the winter, because the weather is so warm.  They generally weigh over 100 pounds, and can live for around 80 years.

Sulcata tortoises eat grasses and plants they gather in their beaks.  They eat all day long, and have no preferred meal.  These tortoises have no migration route or feeding habits that distinguish them from other tortoises of similar climates.  They help the ecosystem out by spreading plant seeds over the plains.
